Position Overview
PM Landscaping Services is looking for an Irrigation Technician to diagnose, repair, install, and maintain irrigation systems for residential and commercial properties across the Central Coast. This field-based role covers everything from troubleshooting broken lines and faulty valves to programming smart controllers and identifying water efficiency opportunities, with light sales responsibility for spotting and presenting upgrade recommendations to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair broken lines, malfunctioning valves, faulty sprinkler heads, and timer/controller issues
- Perform routine irrigation system maintenance checks and respond to service calls promptly and professionally
- Install new irrigation systems in compliance with company standards and manufacturer specifications
- Program and troubleshoot smart irrigation controllers
- Perform seasonal system start-up and winterization/shutdown procedures
- Test and maintain backflow prevention devices in accordance with local water district requirements
- Identify water efficiency opportunities and recommend system improvements based on seasonal needs, communicating findings to management
- Spot upgrade opportunities and present recommendations professionally to customers
- Maintain company vehicle and equipment, and follow all safety protocols
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3 years of irrigation installation and repair experience
- Strong technical knowledge of irrigation system components, controllers, and diagnostic procedures
- Ability to work independently
- English fluency (spoken and written)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Preferred
- Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) credential from the Irrigation Association, or willingness to obtain
- Backflow prevention device tester certification, or willingness to obtain
- Experience with smart irrigation systems and controllers
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience in both residential and commercial irrigation environments
Physical Requirements
Outdoor work in variable weather conditions; ability to dig, lift up to 50 lbs, and navigate uneven terrain.
